Information About Insurance Claims
Insurance companies are in the business of making money. They are loathe to give their clients what they deserve. We help them see the error of their ways by refusing to accept a low-ball offer. Each insurer has its particular way of doing this, and we will provide you with information about that. Our firm knows all their tricks, and we sideline them before they happen.
How to Fight Back
At Trust Guss, we shed light on the insurance company’s valuation version. It is crucial to obtain your valuation from a reputable body shop. Presented with evidence about your vehicle’s worth before the accident and the cost to repair it, the insurance company may find it appropriate to reconsider their estimate. We help clients take this step and flatten the playing field once and for all.
Texas Total Loss Threshold
This is one of the ways they give you less than you deserve. For example, if your vehicle works fine and gets you where you need to go, you can lose it all after an accident if the insurer refuses to repair it. But Texas Law is on their side and allows them to “total” your car and leave you without a vehicle using a body shop estimate they provide. This is called the Texas Total Loss Threshold.
Suddenly, you are without a vehicle, your insurance rates escalate, and you must rent another car to get to work. The insurance company simply says they will not repair it, and you are left picking up the pieces. Finally, when you get their offer, it is far less than you might receive on the open market. Or, if the insurer can save money by finding a fix-it shop that will hobble it back together, they will choose this over total loss. Regardless of how it affects you, the insurance company chooses the path that makes it cheaper for them.
Non-Injury Car Accidents
Injuries are not always apparent when an accident first happens. In some cases, the adrenaline your body produces can mask symptoms. Specific injuries like cervical strain and sprain can take up to 48 hours to show symptoms.
Without a medical appraisal immediately after the crash, the insurance company may argue that there were no injuries and that anything that shows up later has nothing to do with the accident. Don’t allow that to happen. We encourage our clients to see a doctor as soon as possible after the crash to get an accurate picture.
