Community Involvement

"I support Reach Unlimited because of the incredible service they perform in our community. They identified a need in our community to empower developmentally disabled adults and have created an organization that supports that need. I highly encourage you to take a tour of their inspiring facility--I guarantee you will be moved."

Reach Unlimited
Reach Unlimited, Inc. was started in 1983 by a group of parents of children with special needs who were graduating from area high schools. They wanted a safe, secure, and enriched program that their disabled children could rely on throughout their adult lives. Now, the fruit of that vision, Reach Unlimited, is the most comprehensive provider of programs and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the greater northwest Houston area. One of the many services that Reach provides is the unique Learning Activity Center (LAC). More than 250 clients go to the LAC, and there is a long waiting list. All the clients at the LAC have the opportunity to earn a paycheck through on-site contract jobs and by creating gift items as part of the Enterprise Program. By acknowledging the abilities of the clients and giving them the opportunity to be productive members of the community, their lives have been transformed. They even have a Center for Vocational Development that helps clients who are ready to work in the community to practice their vocational skills, fill out job applications, and prepare for job interviews.

Stewart is an avid fan and supporter of Reach Unlimited and all they do for the community. He underwrites their annual spring fundraiser, the Reach Unlimited Springfest and Walkathon. Stewart is also a table captain for their fall fundraising luncheon. Please feel free to ask Stewart about this wonderful community organization and to arrange a tour of their facility. Committment to Fitness
In the past several years Stewart has lost more than 200 pounds! Inspired by his own transformation, Stewart wanted to share his enthusiasm for fitness with others. He currently teaches a weekly spinning class at the 24-Hour Fitness on 1960 and Jones Road. Spinning is a zero-impact aerobic exercise performed to high-energy music on specially designed stationery bikes in a studio setting. The one-hour class includes warm-up and cool-down, and an intense variably paced workout. Feel free to ask Stewart about his passion for fitness, and spinning in particular. He loves the opportunity to share his story and help motivate others to increase their own fitness level.
